My name is Hayley Hitchcock. I was born in 1979 and I live in Oxford. I have always loved art and design. Everyone who knows me knows that I am always making things and have done since I was little. I went to university in 1999 to study Photography but I decided not to pursue a career as a Photographer as I enjoy it much more as a hobby. I now work as a Health Care Assistant at the hospital and I hope to train to become a nurse. Hobbies: I am a member and volunteer of the St John Ambulance and I enjoy working on my dolls house which I purchased recently and am building from scratch. Obviously, I also love making bears... I have been designing and creating bears since my first niece, Jessica, was born in 1998, and I wanted to give her a very special gift that she could treasure for ever. Since making that first one, all those years ago, the style of my bears has come along way and I now create bears for collectors. I have experimented with my designs, materials, and features and am now producing bears which are far more wonderful than the 'gorilla' type bear I made for my niece. I like to add features to each bear such as toes, eyelids or eye brows to create different expressions. I also make personalised and commissioned bears. Many of my bears have been featured in Teddy Bear Scene magazine, Teddy Bear Club International (publications) and I also was nominated for the 2004 British Bear Artist Awards. Hitchcock Bears have travelled around the world, to places as far away as America, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. They can also be found in shops in the UK and Australia, as well as here on my website. I love to travel also and have visited many different countries including, America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Sri Lanka, Malasyia as well as many places in Europe. Every where I go I take Piglet with me as he loves travelling as much as I do. |
